A harp is a delicate instrument made of wood under a lot of string tension. A little everyday care goes a long way towards keeping it sounding beautiful and avoiding costly repairs.

Where to keep your harp
- Keep it away from direct sunlight, heaters, air conditioners and open windows.
- Avoid sudden changes in temperature and humidity, which can affect the wood and tuning.
- Use a dust cover when the harp is not being played.
Tuning
- Tune regularly, ideally every time you play. A harp that is kept in tune stays more stable.
- New strings stretch, so expect to tune them often for the first few weeks.
Moving your harp
- Use a padded transport cover and, for larger harps, a harp trolley.
- Never leave a harp in a hot car.
Regular servicing
Even with good care, every harp needs professional regulation from time to time. See our Services page for details, or contact us to book.
